Blue and White Decorating Ideas for a Timeless Look

Are you a fan of blue and white home decor? I’m sharing my favorite blue and white decorating ideas for a classic timeless look.

As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing more timeless than blue and white decor. From blue and white ginger jars to patterned throw pillows, it’s such a timeless color scheme that works throughout your home.

Blue and White Chinoiserie Style

Out of all the colors in the world, if I could only pick one color to decorate with, it would be blue! (I realize this probably does not come as a surprise to you if you’ve been around here for a very long.) And my favorite color combination in our home is blue and white!

Blue is classic, it’s timeless, it’s tried and true. There’s a reason why the phrase “true blue” is a thing. Blue is the most common favorite color in the world.

Nothing is prettier than a gorgeous blue sky. What’s more relaxing than the range of blue hues in the coastal waters at the beach? All the happy places in nature just seem to have blue associated with them, so why wouldn’t I want to use blue in our home? There’s just something about blue for me that elicits sweet feelings of calm, peacefulness, and joy!

White I enjoy incorporating lots of different colors throughout our home, my clear favorite and most predominant color scheme is blue and white. So today I’m sharing some of my favorite ways that I decorate with blue and white around our home.

Blue and White: A Timeless Color Combo for Home Decor

One reason blue is a timeless color choice for home decor is because of its versatility. There are so many gorgeous shades of blue, from soft pastel to deep navy. Some blues have hints of green, some with hints of gray, some are subtle hints of color and other shades are bright, clear, and pure. There are so many colors, it’s easy to find one that works with your home’s decor. Whether you want a serene coastal retreat or a more sophisticated look, you can find the perfect shade of blue to reflect the style of your space.

One of the ways to never get tired of your home’s decor is to choose colors you genuinely love, rather than chasing trends. Since the color blue happens to be the favorite color choice of so many people, it makes sense that it will stand the test of time in your home.

But I think the most compelling reason that blue is so timeless is the sense of tranquility and harmony it adds to our homes. We live in such a fast-paced world, so anything that can provide calm and respite from the constant noise and distractions all around us is the perfect color to incorporate in our homes.

A Blue and White DIY in the Bathroom

A couple of years ago, we completed the best blue and white DIY project in our bathroom. I used this stencil to create the look of a gorgeous palm frond wallpaper in our master bathroom. I repeated the same colors that I used in our bedroom.

The backdrop of the design is Sherwin-Williams Alabaster. To create the palm frond design, I used Sherwin-Williams Lullaby. It’s such a beautiful blue for this space.
