The weather is getting warmer, and that means it’s the perfect time to give our front porch a little refresh—and for me, that always starts with a new wreath or door hanger. I love filling our porch pots with colorful blooms throughout the warmer months, so I like to keep our front door decor a bit more neutral to complement whatever color palette I’m using.
I love having a wreath that transitions easily from season to season! This year, I used simple white flowers and lush greenery to create a neutral-based door hanger that easily transitions from spring to summer and coordinates with all the vibrant flowers I’ll be adding to our porch. The pretty green and white looks fresh and vibrant against our blue front door, and I love that I can update the door hanger with seasonal blooms or ribbon as the months go by.
I’m excited to show you how simple it was to create this pretty seasonal door decor!
How to Make a Spring and Summer Door Basket
This door hanger is such an easy project to make following these easy steps!
Supplies You’ll Need for This Spring and Summer Door Basket
- Wicker wall flower bucket
- The one I used is from Hobby Lobby, and isn’t currently available online, but you might find it in your local store. This one is similar.
- Florist foam blocks
- Greenery Stems — 3 bunches of trailing greenery and smaller greenery bushes for filler
- Faux branch stems
- Faux white Queen Anne’s Lace stems
- Faux hydrangea stems
- Jute twine for hanging
- Door hanger adhesive hooks
Choose a Hanging Basket or Container

I love the classic look of a woven flower bucket, and found this door bucket hanger at Hobby Lobby. This particular one is not currently available online, but you might be able to find it in your local store.
The flower buckets below provide a similar look. Just look for something with a classic woven texture.

Add Florist Foam or Base Fillers
Adding florist foam to your container allows you to secure and arrange your flowers and stems as you like. I like to use a soft foam. It can be dry florist foam since you aren’t using fresh flowers with this project.

Use a knife to safely trim the foam to fit the interior of your bucket. Use enough foam to fit snuggly inside so your floral stems and greenery will be secure when inserted.
Arrange the Trailing Greenery
Begin by adding the training greenery to the bucket. I used 3 bunches of trailing greenery from Hobby Lobby.

Allow the greenery to spill over the bucket down the front and sides.

Add White Flowers for a Fresh Seasonal Look
Add 3 bunches of faux Queen Anne’s Lace to add height to the arrangement. I placed one bunch in the center and the other two on the sides.

Fluff and spreading the greenery and floral branches to place them how you like and get the look you want.

You can leave your door hanger like this or add a few more touches.
I added a couple of hydrangeas blooms to the bucket for a brighter punch of soft green.

Add Smaller Picks of Greenery for Full Look
After adding the white flowers, you might need a little greenery filler for a fuller look. I used these little bunches to fill in any gaps in the arrangement to create a lush green look.

Hang Your Spring-to-Summer Basket on the Door
Now that your door hanger is complete, you’re ready to attach it to your front door.
I often hang a wreath on our front door using an over-the-top door hanger, however this flower bucket needed to hang a little lower on our door.

Our front door has a 3/4 paned window and I used these fantastic adhesive wreath hangers on each side of the center grid to hang this flower bucket.
I tied jute twine to each side of the bucket handle and hung it on the adhesive hooks.

Tips for Updating Your Flower Bucket Through the Season
This green and white flower bucket hanger provides the perfect neutral door decor to coordinate with your summer flowers, and it’s also the perfect base to add pops of color as the season progresses.
- Add colorful ribbon for summer holidays.
- Add pretty tulips for spring celebrations.
- Hosting a shower or party? Add a few floral stems or ribbon in the color of your party theme.

I love how this door basket adds a soft, welcoming touch to our porch and works so well through both spring and summer. It’s an easy way to refresh your entry with just a few simple supplies.
