Build Around a Rug: A Timeless Living Room with Green and Beige Accents
If you love gorgeous moody greens and classic style, this post is for you. I pulled together a timeless living room look using a gorgeous green rug. This beautiful deep sage green rug sets the tone for a cozy space filled with warm tones and moody artwork.
This design is part of my Build Around a Rug series, where I create a room design inspired by a single rug. For this one, I leaned into a beautiful deep green rug and added warm colors, moody artwork, and a few metallic touches to create a classic, layered look.

The Design Board: Timeless Style with Earthy Green and Warm Accents
The deep green rug set the tone for this space, and everything else just kind of fell into place with warm neutrals, layered textures, and a few traditional touches. I kept the look soft and simple, added some vintage-inspired art, and mixed in a few warm metallics for a little contrast and shine.
1. Sage Green Vintage-Style Rug

This Loloi Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines is such a gorgeous green rug! The distressed vintage pattern in a pretty jade and sand color way is from the Sinclair Collection, and it’s machine washable!
2. Tailored Light Beige Sofa

If this cozy slipcovered sofa looks familiar, it’s because I used it in the first Build Around a Rug post, and I couldn’t resist bringing it back for this one. The soft beige color works beautifully with the greens and warm neutrals in this space, and it’s such an easy piece to work with in lots of room styles.
It’s the Caitlin sofa from Interior Define in the Bisque performance classic weave fabric. What I love about it is how customizable it is. You can choose your fabric, cushion style, leg finish, and more. Of course, buying a sofa is a personal decision, and I always recommend testing one in person if you’re able. But if you’re shopping online, this is a great example of a classic, comfortable, well-made sofa that can hold its own in a busy family room.
Even if this exact one isn’t the right fit for you, it’s a great style and color reference to keep in mind as you shop.
3. Classic Camel Armchair

This cozy accent chair brings a relaxed, traditional feel with its clean silhouette and soft neutral fabric. It’s a versatile piece that works well with warm tones and classic details in any living space.
4. Earthy Throw Pillows for Cozy Layers

I love the layered look of these pillows together. These are all pillow covers, so you can easily update your existing pillows. The deep green pillow cover with fringe adds a rich, earthy tone, and the little lumbar pillows have a sweet ruffled edge that keeps things soft and casual. Both of these are sold as pairs. The patterned pillow cover brings in a warm gold design on beige for just the right pop without feeling too bold. It is sold as a single pillow cover.
5. Woven Table Lamps Add Natural Texture

Aren’t these the prettiest lamps? I love the warmth and texture they add to a room. I’m all about using multiple types of lighting in your living room to create a cozy and inviting look, and these table lamps would be lovely on a sofa table or on end tables flanking your sofa.
6. Aged Brass Chandelier

This chandelier feels like the perfect finishing touch for the space. The eight-light design has a warm brass finish that brings in just the right amount of shine without being flashy. It’s big enough to make a statement but soft enough to keep things cozy.
7. Moody Artwork

I pulled together three different pieces to layer in some character and a touch of moodiness to this room. The classic dark landscape sets the tone with its rich greens and timeless feel. The horse sketch brings in a soft, vintage touch, while the moody floral adds gorgeous depth with its dark background and warm golden blooms. Together, they create a collected, curated look that feels personal and lived-in.
8. Antique-Style Mirror with Elegant Brass Detail

I love how this antique brass mirror adds a little vintage character to the space. It’s a simple piece, but it brings a nice balance to the room and ties in beautifully with the other warm accents.
9. Vintage Brass Table Clock

I love this vintage-style mantel clock with its soft gold finish. It’s a subtle accent that adds warmth and a touch of old-school charm to your shelves or mantel.
Classic Paint Colors for Your Living Room Design
I always love choosing paint colors for a space, and these shades are the perfect complements to the rug.
