Spring has not quite yet sprung outside our home, but it certainly has on our dining room table! After months of cold winter weather, spring is just around the corner, and I couldn’t be more excited! Although it was a fairly mild winter for Kentucky, this Kentucky gal is certainly ready for sunshine and warmer temps.
Today’s spring tablescape is full of sunshine!
It never hurts to have a little decorating inspiration, and today’s DIY project was inspired by the cutest Pottery Barn forsythia napkin rings. Yellow is such a happy color for spring, and forsythia is the quintessential early spring flower.
So, inspired by this classic spring bloom and the vibrant and gorgeous yellows and blues in the spring Pottery Barn catalog, I created a happy spring tablescape, full of sunny, breezy color that’s perfect for any spring occasion. Add a few Easter eggs or white ceramic bunnies, and you have the perfect Easter table.
How to Make the Pottery Barn-Inspired Forsythia Napkin Rings
First, let’s start by making this very simple Pottery Barn-inspired DIY napkin ring. I gathered a few simple supplies to create this easy DIY.
Supplies:
Step One: Cut the grapevine wire.
Grapevine wire is a thick, heavy floral wire that’s made to look like grapevine. It’s ideal to use when adding florals and greenery to a grapevine wreath. I thought it would be perfect to form the ring portion of the napkin rings.
Cut the grapevine wire into 12 to 12 1/2-inch strips. I made six napkin rings, so I needed six cuts of the wire.
Step Two: Form the circle portion of the napkin ring.
Form your rings by folding the wire and twisting it in place. My circles were approximately 2 inches in diameter.
Just do a relaxed twisting of the grapevine wire; don’t twist it too tightly, or you won’t have enough to make sure that you get a double layer of the grapevine wire all the way around the napkin ring.
Step Three: Attach the faux forsythia pieces.
Cut a couple of 5 inch sections of forsythia branch to adhere to each ring.
Use a hot glue gun to glue the pieces of Forsythia onto your twisted grapevine wire circles.
Step Four: Secure the forsythia with raffia.
Use the raffia ribbon to wrap around the base of your faux stems to secure them to the grapevine rings. Once you wrap them a few times going in and out of the branches, tie them in a knot, and clip the excess.
Now your napkin rings are ready for your table!

How to Set a Sunny Yellow and Breezy Blue Table for Spring:
These pretty forsythia napkin rings are just one element of this festive spring tablescape. These pretty yellow creations call for a bright and cheery sprawling spring tablescape down the center of your table.
The foundation of the dining table decor is my favorite jute table runner from Walmart! I love this jute runner because it’s so versatile all year long! It’s perfect for a natural look and keeps our tablescape from feeling too fussy.
The centerpiece is a combination of several simple centerpieces. The focal point is a white vase full of white tulips, seeded eucalyptus, and yellow Alstroemeria. A cute yellow and white pitcher filled with yellow Alstroemeria extends the fresh yellow color along the table runner. Small glass bud vases filled with vibrant yellow Gerbera daisies add a fresh feel to the table.
Fresh fruit is always a great addition to a spring table! I filled a blue and white bowl with fresh lemons and limes for additional pops of color.
A pair of tall candlesticks in a brass finish hold tall white taper candles for an elevated look which contrasts with the rustic vibe of the jute runner.
I added woven placemats at each place setting. The dinnerware includes settings of a blue stoneware dinner plate paired with blue and white salad plates. I mixed and matched the dinnerware to add visual interest to the table. My grandmother’s vintage stemware adds a touch of nostalgia at each table setting.
The cloth napkins in the new napkin rings add the finishing touch to the table! For the napkins, I used a combination of white cloth napkins and blue and white checkered napkins, and inserted them into the Forsythia napkin rings for a pop of color at each place setting.
I carried this sunny spring theme onto the dining table buffet with a blue glass vase full of faux Forsythia stems. Green moss balls in a wooden dough bowl add a pretty, springy touch to complement the table.
