Last week, I shared a playful Anthropologie-inspired design with the SW 2025 Color Capsule, and today, I’m toning it down a little bit with this refreshing color palette.
The Beauty of Classic Colors
Color trends and palettes come and go; but for me, decorating in a classic style with colors that I love is the main goal. If I stick to this general decorating guideline, our home feels grounded and genuine for our personal tastes, and I can add in and take away more trending colors as I like.
A Classic Trio of Colors That Feels Fresh:
The fresh classic color palette we’re exploring today fits this decorating guideline perfectly! Sherwin-Williams Rain Cloud and Sunbleached are classic neutral colors that create a timeless and elegant backdrop in a space; while SW Bosc Pear injects vibrant golden color into the mix, and moves toward the warmer earthier tones that are trending now.
Rain Cloud
Rain Cloud is a stunning deep blue-gray from Sherwin-Williams’ Emerald Designer Collection. It’s not quite as dark as navy, but it still offers a rich, luxurious shade of moody blue. (You can read more about using moody paint colors in this post.)Think of it as a blend of Gray’s Harbor (SW 6236)and Waterloo (SW 9141) — not quite as gray as Gray’s Harbor, but not quite as blue as Waterloo.
Ideal Uses for Rain Cloud:
- Accent color: Rain Cloud would be beautiful on built-in cabinetry, trim, and millwork in a living room or kitchen.
- Enclosed spaces: Create a dramatic and cozy atmosphere in a smaller room such as a study, powder room, or bedroom by painting the entire room in Rain Cloud. Oh, how gorgeous it would be!!
- Tray ceilings: Add a touch of drama to a room by painting a tray ceiling in Rain Cloud.
Sunbleached
Sunbleached is a warm, off-white with a slight hint of gray that keeps it from looking too yellow. Also part of the Sherwin-Williams Emerald Design Collection, it’s a perfect choice for those who love the look of a white room, but don’t want it to feel too stark. It’s a similar look to Egret White (SW 7570) or White Duck (SW 7010), but with a little more gray in it.
Ideal Uses for Sunbleached:
- All-over color: Paint your entire room in Sunbleached for a bright and airy feel that still feels warm and inviting.
- Cabinets: Create a classic and timeless look by painting your kitchen cabinets in Sunbleached.
Bosc Pear
Bosc Pear is a bold and vibrant shade of gold that adds a touch of vintage fun and personality to any space. I like this color best used as an accent color in a room, rather than painting an entire room in this vibrant shade.
Ideal Uses for Bosc Pear:
- Accent walls: If you want to make a statement, you can create a focal point in a room by painting one wall in Bosc Pear.
- Fabrics and accessories: Incorporate this shade into your home through throw pillows, curtains, artwork, and accessories.
- Wallpaper print: I absolutely love this idea! Add a vintage vibe to a room with a Bosc Pear-inspired wallpaper.

Combining the Colors
For one of my favorite classic and timeless looks, pair Rain Cloud and Sunbleached together in a room. You can add in touches of warmth and personality with Bosc Pear accents.
- Open floor plan: Paint the walls in Sunbleached and use Rain Cloud for cabinets or trim.
- Bedroom: Paint the walls in Rain Cloud with a white ceiling. Add a touch of Bosc Pear with a printed throw pillow or in an accent chair.
- Living room: Paint the walls in Sunbleached and use Rain Cloud for a statement piece of furniture. Add touches of the Bosc Pear shade in artwork or in a rug.
