Seven on Saturday: Simple Home Styling for the Season

We’re at home this Labor Day weekend, and football is on the agenda today. Jeff is especially excited for the Wildcats’ first game, even though I’m not sure he’s holding out too much hope for the season. However, he will enjoy spending time with his dad who loves to watch the game.

The website is getting a bit of a makeover. I’ve been working on some of the details this week, and I’m excited about giving things a cozy and inviting new look for the new season.

A small green glass jar holds a bouquet of flowers, including a bright red bloom, a pink trumpet-shaped flower, a pink dahlia, and a cluster of green and pink hydrangea, set on a green woven surface against a brick wall.

In our yard, the hydrangeas are just about at that perfect stage of color where I like to clip and dry them. I love tucking them into wreaths, flower arrangements, and mantle decor, and they carry me through fall and winter until spring blooms return. Some years the colors are so pretty that I save them for several seasons. I have some pretty blue blooms that I pull out year after year, and they still look beautiful! Do you like to dry hydrangeas to use through the colder months?

I’m thankful to finally be back to taking exercise walks after nursing a stress fracture in my foot all summer. I’ve been able to keep up with everyday walking around the house, but it feels so good to get outside for longer walks again. Yesterday, I was cleared to walk a mile, and I’m looking forward to slowly building back up, especially as the weather has cooled.

My craft room closet project is still lingering on, waiting for me to give it some attention. This week has been filled with work, some more significant car issues that continue, and helping care for parents’ needs. In light of the tragic events of the week, I’ve been reminded once again how precious life is and how important it is to cherish the ones we love. I’m so grateful for my family and children, and my heart breaks as I continue to pray for the families walking through such unimaginable loss.
